SHANGHAI, June 15, 2026 — Zhao Yuqi, Founder and Chairwoman of Qimei Industrial Group and President of the Hebei Organic Industry Development Association, delivered a keynote address today at the opening ceremony of Organic Market Asia (OMA) 2026, held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai.

Co-organized by IFOAM Asia and Sinoexpo Informa Markets, the event has gathered global producers, industry experts, and buyers to discuss the future of the organic sector. In her address, Zhao emphasized the urgent need for greater international cooperation and standardization to support the industry’s rapid growth.

Bridging Standards and Markets

Highlighting the organic sector’s role in ecological protection, food safety, and rural revitalization, Zhao noted that while Asian consumption is expanding, the industry faces shared challenges regarding certification mutual recognition and supply chain standardization.
Drawing on Qimei’s 27-year history—starting from reclaiming sandy wasteland in Hebei in 1999 to building an 85,000-mu closed-loop organic base—she shared insights on integrating planting, breeding, and deep processing. Qimei currently exports to 37 countries and holds five major organic certifications (China, EU, USDA, Canada, and Japan), serving as a supplier for two Olympic Games.
Zhao proposed three key initiatives for the industry:
  1. Harmonize Standards: Promote mutual recognition of organic certifications across Asia to reduce compliance costs for cross-border trade.
  2. Strengthen Closed-Loop Systems: Encourage integrated farming and processing models that leverage technology to enhance product diversity and sustainability.
  3. Deepen Global Collaboration: Utilize platforms like OMA to connect associations and enterprises, creating stable channels for global market expansion.
“We must stay true to our ecological roots and uphold strict quality standards,” Zhao stated. “By working together, we can ensure that safe, healthy, and sustainable organic products reach households across Asia and the world.”

Strategic Engagement Beyond the Stage

Discussions focused on advancing cross-border organic trade, co-developing international production bases, and expanding global brand distribution.
